Welcome to “Understanding The Patients’ Bill of Rights,” an essential online course designed to empower you with knowledge and understanding about your rights and responsibilities as a patient in Nigeria. This course can be taken by anyone; a caregiver, a healthcare worker, or someone who wishes to be informed.
This course is developed from the Patients’ Bill of Rights (PBoR), a pivotal tool that safeguards the dignity, well-being, and fair treatment of patients within the healthcare system in Nigeria. The set of rights was developed collaboratively by the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC), the Federal Ministry of Health, and other stakeholders. It draws from various legal instruments including The Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Consumer Protection Act, Child Rights Act, Freedom of Information Act, National Health Act, the Hippocratic Oath, and professional ethical codes.
