Introducing the Grandapreneur Award

The Quality-of-Life Improvement Initiative (QoLII), an innovation hub within the Quality Improvement Institute of Nigeria (QIIN), has launched a bold new recognition — the Grandapreneur Award.

This prestigious honour celebrates extraordinary industry pioneers whose personal enterprise has not only transformed their sector, but whose leadership and mentorship have birthed a multigenerational legacy of excellence.

Who Is a Grandapreneur?

A Grandapreneur is more than just a trailblazer or successful founder.

They are visionaries who deliberately raise other entrepreneurs; leaders who have trained or inspired mentees who went on to build their own thriving, independent enterprises; more so in the same space.

What truly distinguishes a Grandapreneur is the existence of a clear, traceable chain of “entrepreneurial offspring”, including second-generation founders who emerged under the mentorship of their original mentees.

This creates a powerful living legacy of capacity-building, innovation, and sectoral expansion that improves the overall quality of life.

Setting a National Benchmark for Mentorship-Driven Development

The Grandapreneur Award will be presented for the first time at the 2nd National Quality Improvement Summit (NQIS) & Award Night 2025 in Abuja.

It will honour a remarkable contributor in Nigeria whose life’s work has created an entire ecosystem of excellence, competition, and continuous improvement, particularly within health, education, technology, and other quality-driven sectors.

By recognizing these rare individuals, QoLII and QIIN hope to set a new national benchmark for mentorship-driven development and sustainable industry growth.

The Search Begins

In July 2025, QoLII and QIIN set out on a national search for the first Grandapreneur.

We are engaging industry leaders, professional bodies, and sectoral associations to identify deserving candidates whose visionary leadership has produced visible “generations” of enterprise.

The first ever Grandapreneur will be unveiled at NQIS 2025; marking the start of a tradition that will continue to spotlight mentorship as the engine of sustainable excellence in Nigeria.
